Talking News Sound Engineer, Editors and Readers

We produce a fortnightly Talking Newspaper for people with sight loss from a studio in our resource centre in Balham. We are looking for volunteers to support each aspect of the production.

Main Aspects of the role

  • Work with the Talking News team to make sure each edition is recorded, produced and sent out on time
  • The Editor takes the lead on selecting news items and stories for the recording
  • The Sound Engineer leads on operating and maintaining the recording and production equipment to produce a quality talking newspaper
  • The equipment is straightforward to use, so anyone with an interest in sound, music or IT should be able to pick it up after training
  • The Readers are recorded reading out the articles
  • All help with recording and sending out USBs to our 90 + service users who depend on the service
