Meet the team

London Vision operates across all 32 boroughs of London from its base in Euston. More than 50 per cent of London Vision's team is visually impaired, ensuring that blind and partially sighted people and their lived experiences are at the core of our decision making:

CEO London Vision, Cathy Low

Cathy is London Vision’s CEO. She leads the charity and is responsible for all aspects of the charity’s administration and business. Prior to working for London Vision, Cathy’s career was in regeneration, working in Local Government and for a public-private-third sector partnership in Stratford, east London. Cathy is passionate about London and supporting blind and partially sighted people to make the most of its opportunities. Cathy has Stargardts and has been severely sight impaired since a teenager.

Head of Strategy and Operations, Nicola Parks

Nicola is our Head of Strategy and Operations, working to deliver London Vision’s strategic outcomes, maintaining quality standards and supporting organisational governance.

Nicola’s background is in project and programme management having held roles in both the public and commercial sector. Most recently, Nicola has spent the last 6 years working across the sight loss sector for both national and local organisations.

Nicola enjoys dance and musical theatre and her favourite book is The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.

Communications Officer, Rosalind Duignan-Pearson

Rosalind is London Vision’s Communications Officer. She maintains London Vision’s website and social media presence, supports ongoing campaigns and projects and is responsible for coordinating all internal and external communications.

Prior to joining London Vision, Rosalind worked in European volunteering and women’s rights. She maintains an interest in gender equality and global development. In her spare time she enjoys riding motorbikes and playing sports.

Engagement Manager, Bhavini Makwana

Bhavini is the Engagement Manager for London Vision and Guide Dog owner to Colin. She campaigns and advocates on issues including accessible transport, healthcare and more. She engages with influencers, stakeholders and blind an partially sighted people across London to feed into consultations and projects to work towards an inclusive capital. Bhavini previously worked as an Activities Co-ordinator arranging events, activities and outings as well as guest speakers for meetings for people with sight loss.

Bhavini also volunteers and is the Ambassador for Retina UK, Co-Chair of the BAME Sight Loss Committee and Trustee for Transport for All.

She enjoys the theatre and music concerts, going for long walks, cooking, and is a wife and mother to two daughters.

Development Manager, Jacqui Thomas

Jacqui is one of London Vision’s Development Managers. Her role involves the development of London Vision’s volunteering offer, providing opportunities for volunteering through the London Sight Loss Council, and supporting a network of engagement champions to tackle inequality, challenge decision makers and achieve lasting change.

Her career has spanned over 10 years in retail, 5 years in Healthcare and a number of years in the voluntary sector. She re-joined the London Vision team after a secondment to a sight loss charity in London as the Chief Officer.

Her volunteering journey has and continues to be an invaluable experience. Volunteering provides her with new skills, fresh knowledge, boosts self-esteem and grows confidence, and has resulted in unexpected opportunities and great experiences for Jacqui.

Development Manager, Jonathan Ward

Jonathan Ward is one of London Vision’s development managers. His areas of work include the delivery of Living with Sight Loss courses and raising awareness of sight loss across London. Jonathan has been providing or managing services for blind and partially sighted people for more than 30 years. Previously he has worked for Kent Association for the Blind and the RNIB. Away from work Jonathan competes in a number of sports, including shot put, discus and hammer throwing. Read Jonathan's latest blog here.

Project Coordinator, Liam O’Carroll

Liam is responsible for the chairing and administration of two of London Visions networks, the Working Age Forum and the London Visual Impairment Forum (LVIF). he also produces the fortnightly LVIF email Bulletin and writes articles for the London Vision web site. 

Before joining London Vision, Liam worked as an actor in theatre, television and radio and he conceived the name for the theatre company Extant. In his spare time Liam enjoys literature, creative writing and listening to live sport.

Administration Officer, Christine Edmead

Christine is London Vision’s Administration and Information Officer. She maintains London Vision’s info email account, London Scene and various other mailing lists, being the first point of contact on the telephone, supports ongoing projects and has various administration duties.

Prior to joining London Vision, Christine spent a large part of her career working for UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund. Where she had various roles and many titles, but has always worked in administration.
