From A to B

Whether you’re a symbol or mobility cane user, or perhaps you have a guide dog, getting from A to B in London can certainly still have its challenges.

A short trip to the shop, gym, doctors or local school can be daunting enough, let alone trekking across the city to work, an appointment, or where ever you may be heading.

Thankfully advances in technology are really producing some great tools that the VI community can utilise to help us on our journeys.

The most common modes of transport in and around London are buses, trains and the London underground (tube).  We’ve picked out a few accessible apps that seem to be popular amongst our community that you may like to try out for yourself.

Tube Tracker (App Store)

 – London journey planner and live departure boards for all underground stations, including train service numbers

Train line UK app

With live departure boards, price alerts, seat preferences, favorite routes and more, the Train line app is all about putting you in control and making train travel easy.

London Bus Checker (App Store) – departure boards for any London bus stop

London Bus Checker brings you live transit times, smart journey planning and detailed route maps for all of Greater London.

There are lots of other apps available to help you on your journey, but these three have been recommended on multiple occasions by members of the London VI community we have spoken to. If there are other apps you use that you find useful then why not share them with others?
